Skate Lates features an extra special series of music nights throughout the season for the perfect start to your weekend.

DJ Emily Rawson is back with the Rock The Belles crew, Peckham-based radio station Balamii and Tottenham based club Five Miles both take over three nights apiece with a range of up and coming selectors, plus Somerset House Studios artist Hannah Perry takes over the decks for a one-off evening. Look out too for The Art of Parties with Fred Macpherson and Cavan McCarthy, Ransom Note, JACK & HGC Sound System, Dalston Superstore, Total Refreshment Centre, Jazz Re:freshed, Elijah & Skilliam, Josey Rebelle and a final session from Rinse FM for a skate experience unlike any other in London.

Access Information

I'm a wheelchair user. Can I skate?

Yes! Wheelchair users can skate at Somerset House. We hold a two dedicated wheelchair sessions across the season on Wed 28 Nov and Sun 9 Dec both at 15:00 as well as access to public sessions subject to availability. To find out more and to book, customers should call the team on 0333 320 2836.

We can only accommodate bookings for wheelchair users on public sessions with a minimum of 2 week’s notice.

Wheelchair users are entitled to one free PA/companion Skate ticket bookable over the phone on 0333 320 2836. Our Ice Marshals will provide all on-ice support for wheelchair users (at no extra charge).  

Electric wheelchairs are permitted during dedicated wheelchair sessions only and must be switched to a manual setting whilst on the ice. Please notify us if you will be in an electric wheelchair at time of booking.

The venue is accessible for wheelchairs at all times. A ramp gives full access to the viewing area, the Skate Lounge and Fortnum’s Christmas Arcade.

Somerset House is unable to provide wheelchairs. All skate tickets are subject to availability.

Good To Know

What shall I do when I arrive?

If you do not already have your tickets, collect them from the on-site box office.

You should then leave all loose items including bags in the cloakroom or with someone in your party who isn’t skating and proceed to the Skate Entrance with your ticket, you can then collect your skates and get on the ice.

Skate boot hire is included in your ticket price.

What size boots are available?

The smallest skating boot is a child’s size 7 (European size 25), this will fit children aged approximately 3 to 4 years.

The largest skating boot is a size 15 (European size 50).

What do I need to leave in the cloakroom?

All bags regardless of size and bulky items such as large cameras are not allowed on the rink or in the skate hire area. These need to be left in the cloakroom where the first item is free and there is then a charge of £2 per item.

Please note that items are left in the cloakroom at the owner’s risk.

What should I wear?

Remember that the ice rink is open-air, so dress warmly.

Wear thick socks for extra comfort and don’t forget your gloves.

What happens in bad weather?

The ice rink is open-air and skating continues come rain or shine.

Remember to dress warmly and wear something waterproof if you are worried it might rain.

Can I bring food/drinks/alcohol?

No food or drinks are allowed into skate hire area or on the ice. Glass is not permitted on the viewing platforms.

Ticket holders under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted on the rink. 

Can I take photographs?

You can take photographs for personal use, but no selfie sticks, large cameras, video cameras or audio recording devices are allowed on the ice. The use of tripods is not permitted throughout the building for safety reasons.

Can I bring my friends to watch?

Spectators are welcomed at the ice rink free of charge.

They can watch from one of the viewing platforms or in The Skate Lounge overlooking the ice.

Are tickets available for New Year’s Eve?

For information relating to events taking place on New Year’s Eve, please sign up to the Somerset House e-newsletter and wait for further announcements.

Do I have to pay to visit Fortnum’s Christmas Arcade at Somerset House?

No, it is free entry and open to everyone.

Ice skating is a sport with inherent risks. Patrons skate at their own risk.

Tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

Ticket holders under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted on the rink.

How Does It Work

You will receive a confirmation email with your voucher attached. Please print this voucher, it is your ticket of admission. Bring the voucher to the venue.

Do I need to do anything before I arrive?

Please check your tickets to make sure that they are for the correct date and time, and that you have the correct number of tickets. If the date, time or quantity are not what you were expecting, please contact us as soon as possible quoting your reference number.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive at Somerset House 20 minutes before your skating session begins so that you have time to get your skates and still enjoy your full session on the ice.

Please do arrive earlier if you need to leave items in the cloakroom.

If you arrive late you will be allowed on the ice but you may not have your full session of skating and will only be able to stay for the duration of your booked session.

Please note that after 17:30 sessions are 45 minutes. 

Tickets are only valid for the date and session time booked. Tickets are not transferable or refundable.

Suitable For Children

What do I need to know if I am bringing children?

A child must be 12 years or under to qualify for the child ticket price.

Children aged 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult on the ice.

The smallest skate size available for children is size 7 / European size 25 (age approx 3 - 4 years old). Parents must judge whether their children can skate safely.

On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve the box office closes at 18.00

On Christmas Day the box office is closed.

On Boxing Day and New Year’s Day the box office opens at 12.00
